Student Representative Council

The Student Representative Council coordinates student representation in relation to educational activities.

The Student Representative Council in a few words

For many years, the Faculty of Gembloux Agro-Bio Tech has allowed students to participate in the decisions it wishes to make.

In order to ensure that the general opinion of students is reported and considered during these debates, the Student Representative Council is elected each year by all students. This committee is composed of six students who are committed to defending the opinions and interests of their peers, across all orientations and studies. Thus, the Student Representative Council is involved in the various official bodies of the Faculty.

However, these six students do not work alone and recruit delegates in each block of bachelor’s and master’s cycles. These delegates are responsible for managing possible problems encountered within their year and courses. If necessary, they may forward more general requests or opinions to the Student Representative Council so that the committee can communicate them to the faculties authorities.

Finally, during the elections, the new committee calls on several students to find motivated candidates to participate in existing faculty committees.

The advice of the members of the committee

"After nearly a year of mandate, or even two years for some, we would like to share our experience:

It is true that, at first glance, being part of the decision-making bodies and meeting regularly with the faculty authorities may seem daunting. However, it is a unique opportunity to really interact in debates and make your voice heard.

As a student it is a valuable life-learning experience that we recommend to every student! Negotiation, decision-making and learning how to express your ideas as well as possible are assets that will be highly appreciated later in the professional world.

In addition, working in a team, with very different people in a variety of positions, is a very rewarding opportunity that we hope will also be enjoyable for the students who will follow us in the years to come."
