Collaborations with companies

Collaborations with Belgian and foreign industrial networks are numerous and can take many different forms, falling into several categories: collaborative research, technological partnership, subcontracting and services and student work.

The University-Society Interface

It is responsible for the university's 3rd mission, which is to serve the community.

   • Research administration

This interface provides logistical support for Gembloux Agro-Bio Tech's research policy in support of and in collaboration with the optional Standing Committee on Research (CPFR).

In this capacity, it is tasked with exploiting the inventory of resources and research activities carried out at Gembloux Agro-Bio Tech in order to respond to the requests of various stakeholders.

   • Internal information

The interface uses all the information relating to calls for tenders that it identifies or that it receives, while ensuring general or targeted dissemination according to their purpose or interest. If necessary, it assists promoters in the presentation of their applications.

   • Information for public authorities and companies

The Interface promotes Gembloux Agro-Bio Tech to companies and institutions (regional, federal and European) that finance research and development and scientific service activities.

   • Involvement in networks

The Interface represents Gembloux Agro-Bio Tech in numerous bodies involved in regional economic development. In order to raise the visibility and promote the Institution, it also participates in the organization of visits by leading experts.

   • Research valorisation

The Interface contributes to the valorisation of the research results carried out at Gembloux Agro-Bio Tech by participating in the transfer of technologies to industry, protecting research results and assisting in the creation of spin-offs.

The Valorisation Unit

Its main mission is to promote the results of the research carried out within Gembloux Agro-Bio Tech.

Several forms of valorisation are possible, including the sale of technology, licensing, the creation of spin-off companies, the implementation of collaborative projects with companies.

The valorisation of research has two main objectives:

  • To have the results of research exploited within an existing or future company, by enabling it to acquire a technology that is "secure" from the point of view of intellectual property, promoting effective exploitation vis-à-vis potential competitors;
  • Develop research projects in collaboration with companies based on the skills of the Faculty units.

• The purpose of valorisation management is to:

  • Raise awareness among university researchers of industrial property rights and notions of confidentiality;
  • Identify and disseminate the skills of the research units;
  • Protect patentable results through the filing of patents and know-how through i-filing;
  • Participate in technology transfer to existing companies, particularly through the negotiation of licensing agreements;
  • Participate in the development of research projects with companies;
  • Guide the creation of young companies based on the innovations resulting from the Faculty;
  • Participate in negotiations for collaboration with the private sector;
  • Participate in the negotiation and drafting of technology sales or licensing agreements.
