Program

The preparatory session is essentially a review of basic mathematical concepts: algebra, trigonometry, geometry, analysis, logical reasoning.

The courses are based on the 4h high school math program. They are therefore aimed exclusively at students who have taken Math 4h (or less) in secondary school.

Students who have taken math 6 or more in secondary school are not included in this session, but can register for the preparatory math courses at the Sart Tilman campus in Liège.

Organisation

The week is divided into half-days, alternating theory and exercises:

  • Mornings are devoted to theory: review of basic principles and basic solution approaches in an interactive way.
Classes are given by Professor Catherine Charles, head of general mathematics courses for the bachelor's cycle at Gembloux Agro-Bio Tech.
  • The afternoons are devoted to solving exercises.
Participants are divided into two groups supervised by student monitors.
Preparatory courses in mathematics on the Gembloux campus take place face-to-face

Information on course locations and access to the campus is given to participants by the Student Affairs department after verification of their enrolment requirements (see above).

Accommodation

Students who have accommodation at the faculty (student residence) or in town for the academic year can start their rental contract at the beginning of September and benefit from accommodation during the week of preparatory courses.
