Hexapoda - Insectarium Jean Leclercq and the Botanical Areas in collaboration with the Faculty of Gembloux Agro-Bio Tech invite you to the 2nd edition of "Papillons en liberté" in the greenhouses of the Observatoire du Monde des Plantes au Sart Tilman.

In addition to the plant diversity present in the greenhouses, come and satisfy your curiosity about the fascinating world of butterflies and marvel at the diversity of these insects in connection with the host plants.

In the tropical greenhouse of the Observatoire du Monde des Plantes of the ULiège, a butterfly aviary hosting hundreds of flamboyant coloured Lepidoptera will be installed for more than 6 weeks. A diversity of exotic species of chrysalis will be presented and will give birth to so many butterflies... colorful and extraordinary. Discover a fabulous diversity of these Lepidoptera and walk among these fantastic insects flying in complete freedom around you. Guided tours adapted to primary classes with fun and practical activities illustrating the nature and roles of insects will be organized.

Educational panels proposed within the specially designed greenhouse will be presented to discover the main groups of butterflies present, their relationship with flowering plants, their importance for our ecosystems, the dangers that threaten them. Then discover the relationships between butterflies and host plants, eating habits, development cycles... and finally also promote local insects next summer in your gardens.
