Carolina Levicek graduated from the Master Bioscience engineering in Agricultural Sciences in 2015.

She was born in Ecuador and lived in Brussels.

In a few lines, she tells us about her career path, explains her choice of studies and gives us some memories of her student life.

Carolina's job

I am a freelance scientific illustrator. I started my project in 2015 after my studies and created my company in 2020.

My activity revolves around scientific popularization, didactic and technical supports, graphic design and entrepreneurship. Concretely, I draw on my graphic tablet to create illustrations that allow to understand complex subjects

Recently, my husband Gauthier Malnoury (also a bioscience engineer) joined me in the adventure and is in charge of developing the company. Our long term goal is to form a team to become a versatile scientific/didactic communication agency in order to "put art at the service of knowledge".

Before starting my own business, I worked as a project manager in a social organization in Luxembourg. I managed an experimental project of organic ornamental plants production with a team of people in professional reinsertion.

Concretely, I planned the activities (planting, sowing, cuttings, grafting, maintenance of the plants, orders, agricultural work) and I was on the field every day. The project provided 5 agricultural plots of land that had to be maintained with my team. We also participated in markets to sell our plants.

A typical day

I divide my working time between the realization of scientific drawings, exchanges with customers and collaborators and the administrative tasks inherent to the management of my compan.

Why this choice of studies?

Because I have always been fascinated by life sciences.

Goals achieved

One of my goals was to return to Ecuador and work in the tropical agricultural sector. I did my internship in Ecuador and lived there for a year after my studies.

A role in society

The richness and diversity of my bioscience engineering studies have prepared me very well for my role as an entrepreneur and scientific popularizer. These studies have also given me a 360° vision of agro-socio-environmental issues.

My current job allows me to participate in the dissemination of scientific knowledge.

Memories of student life

The people with whom I lived are still very good friends today, we consider each other as brothers. Moreover, I met my husband and partner there.

Our illustration represents the fields of expertise of future AGRO bioscience engineers.
This knowledge will enable them to innovate and improve the sustainability of agricultural systems in temperate and tropical regions from a technical, technological and human perspective.
