The ISO 9001 standard is a reference that organisations in a wide variety of sectors use as a framework for their management and quality assurance. This standard was largely modified in 2015 and now focuses on the strategic dimension of quality management, which then becomes a real tool for managing the certified entity.
In higher education, the use of ISO series standards is frequent abroad, particularly in Switzerland or France where many institutions are certified. In the Wallonia-Brussels Federation, Gembloux Agro-Bio Tech - ULiège is one of the two faculties (with the Warocqué - UMons Faculty) to obtain ISO 9001 certification.
Since 2018, the scope of the certification is extended to undergraduate and graduate co-delivery courses for which Gembloux Agro-Bio Tech - ULiège is the institution of reference (Bachelor's and Master's in landscape architecture, Master's in agroecology and master's in innovation and food design management).
The ISO certification in Gembloux Agro-Bio Tech - ULiège confirms the necessity for continuous improvement in training courses, the aim of which is to offer students an increasingly high-performance education that meets societal expectations. The service provided to students must be constantly improved in all its aspects: quality of programmes, organisation of courses, timetables, premises, audiences, internships, stays abroad, etc.
The human dimension of Gembloux Agro-Bio Tech - ULiège has always favoured contacts between students and members of the academic, scientific, administrative and technical staff. In addition, links with graduates and employers have been strengthened to take greater account of society's training needs.
Finally, the newly certified quality management system is a strong point of the faculty in the eyes of the Agency for the Evaluation and Quality of Higher Education (AEQES) and the Commission des Titres d'Ingénieur (CTI).
