LIFE in Quarries #5
Permanent quarry water bodies provide rich habitats for the subsistence (food and reproduction) of many plant and animal species, including the great crested newt and the midwife toad. Large water bodies of varying size are rapidly colonized by fish and are therefore of interest to waterbirds.
The Biodiversity and Landscape Unit of Gembloux Agro-Bio Tech - University of Liège actively participates in the LIFE in quarries project.
