The journal "Biotechnology, Agronomy, Society and Environment" (BASE) is an international multidisciplinary journal, published in open access, which publishes original articles, research notes and bibliographic syntheses in French and English in the fields of agronomic sciences, forests, nature and landscapes, environmental sciences and technologies, chemistry and bio-industries.

Published by the Presses agronomiques de Gembloux, it is placed under the scientific authority of Gembloux Agro-Bio Tech - University of Liège and the Walloon Centre for Agronomic Research.

Rigour and quality: the secrets of a growing scientific journal

With an impact factor of 1.23 for 2018, the journal has surpassed the symbolic bar of 1. This impact factor, which is still modest, nevertheless places BASE in first place among French-speaking scientific journals in the field.

The evolution of BASE since 1997 reflects the constant concern for quality that drives the editorial and publishing committees and the Scientific Committee. The Editorial Committee has recently been renewed and will soon be extended to other Belgian universities. Its requirements are high, since the rejection rate is close to 70 to 90% of the manuscripts submitted.

The significant increase in the number of citations of the journal shows that BASE is on the right track to maintain an honourable place as an international bilingual scientific journal in the field of activities covered. Its reputation is also that of the two institutions that carry it!
